The hubs and I both started either a new job or new responsibilities in our job this past Spring. And since that time, we have been working. A lot. There hasn’t been much, if any, unoccupied downtime and we haven’t taken a break.
It’s a first-world problem, I know; and a drop in the bucket to what many, many people in this world experience every day, every week, every month and every year of their lives.
But, we’re tired.
We were originally scheduled to be in Peru this coming week but, for various reasons, those plans fell through. However, neither one of us remembered to take it off of our work calendars. A few weeks ago, we realized this and made a decision.
We’re taking advantage of our week-that-we’re-not-in-Peru and using the time we were supposed to be out of the country, working in a different capacity, to take a small “getaway” trip instead. It just happens to be the weekend of our wedding anniversary and we are looking forward to doing nothing except…rest.
What a beautiful word. Just thinking about it makes me take a deep breath.
