#write31days: Day 15 – Remain

I love praise and worship music.

It helps me relax, remember and refocus when I listen and, when I play, I am able to experience worship in a different way. If I can be a little facetious, though, not all worship songs are created equally.  The song below, for example, feels kind of old to me. It’s never been a favorite of mine melodically or musically, either. And, when I’m not careful, I miss the message of it because of those things.

Higher than the mountains that I face
Stronger than the power of the grave
Constant through the trial and the change
One thing remains
This one thing remains
Your love never fails, and never gives up
It never runs out on me
Your love never fails, and never gives up
It never runs out on me
Your love never fails, and never gives up
It never runs out on me
Because on and on and on and on it goes
Before it overwhelms and satisfies my soul
And I never, ever, have to be afraid
One thing remains
This one thing remains
Your love never fails, and never gives up
It never runs out on me
Your love never fails, and never gives up
It never runs out on me
Your love never fails, and never gives up
It never runs out on me
Your love
Did you catch it?
Through all the change, fear, stress, trials, and crappy stuff of life, one thing remains:
Love.
God’s love.  A love that sustains, heals, redeems and sets free. A love that is never ending, never failing and never demanding. A love that hopes, encourages, forgives and saves. And a love that is available to all and free for the taking.
