#write31days: Day 12 – Write

I attended a session at a writing conference a few years ago where the speaker said something that stuck with me. It was a Christian conference so she was talking about the call to write and how, sometimes, God’s first call to write for a person might be very specific.

“Lucy, write about organizing and decorating your home on a budget.”

But then, there are those people that God is not-so-specific with.

“Jo, write.”

Uh, okay, God. I’ll write. …about what?

Silence.

Awesome.

This is the place I’ve been in for about six years now. I feel like I have something to say, that perhaps even the Lord has something to say through me. I’m just not at all certain what it is yet.

And, if I’m honest, sometimes I get really frustrated with this whole writing thing because I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with it yet. I stop caring and I lose interest. And the blog sits.

But, the call to write still stands. So, after a while, I give it another shot hoping this time maybe it’ll start to come together. Who knows if this is that time, but I’m here to try again.

EVERY FRIDAY, THE FIVE MINUTE FRIDAY ENCOURAGES BLOGGERS TO FREE-WRITE ON A SPECIFIC TOPIC FOR FIVE MINUTES. AND EVERY OCTOBER, THE WRITE 31 DAYS CHALLENGE TAKES PLACE. COMBINED, THEY TRANSLATE INTO A DAILY, FIVE-MINUTE, FREE-WRITTEN POST ON A SPECIFIC TOPIC. THIS POST IS A PART OF THAT COMBINED CHALLENGE.
